Not sure what film to rent? No problem – the SpoonWeb staff, Russ and Paul, are on hand to make recommendations and partake in a bit of film related banter. A personalised service which is sorely missing from online rental.Apart from DVDs, the shop also doubles as a ‘treasure trove of geek’, selling comics, graphic novels, figures, t-shirts, mugs and accessories.
But it doesn’t end there. Spoon Web also host a monthly ‘Geek Night’, where like-minded individuals can get together and discuss all things geek!Additionally, there is a ‘Beer and Geek’ quiz night held at The Whitstable Smack pub. And lastly, the Spoon Web team contribute to a post-film discussion at The Umbrella Cafe’s monthly Film Club.
So with all this on offer, why bother with the online rental services? Support your local independent retailers and #ShopLocal!

The rare sighting of an independent high street DVD rental store!
Yes you heard me, an actual physical independent DVD rental store on the high street! Where else but in Whitstable could you still find such a thing? So why use a rental store instead of an online counterpart? I headed to Spoon Web in Oxford Street to find out..
At first glance you can see this store is unlike any of the chain DVD rental stores that closed their doors in towns all over the country in recent years. Instead of the typical bland aisles, this shop oozes quirkiness and is filled with movie/comic paraphernalia.
